Description
Backsettown is an L-shaped building that dates back to the 16th century or earlier. Originally known as East Henfield and later referred to as "Eackside-of-the-Town," the name has evolved into Backsettown. The structure features a timber frame with red brick infilling, with the south-east wing being the older section that originally contained the hall. The south front of the west wing and the west front of the south-east wing have been refaced with red brick, grey headers, and red mathematical tiles. The building has a hipped roof covered with Horsham slabs and is two storeys high, with two windows in each wing. A stepped stone and brick chimney breast is located on the north wall. The south-east wing includes a small porch with a pediment that contains a door made of four moulded panels. The west wing features a doorway with a flat hood and a door of six moulded panels.
