Watch Office (Control Tower), former RAF Tangmere

The building is a former watch office, also known as a control tower, located at the former RAF Tangmere. It is a two-storey rectangular structure with an observation room on the roof. The principal southeast elevation features a projecting concrete balcony that wraps around the corners of the building.

The design follows the Air Ministry type 12096/1, typical for a fighter station watch office. The main elevation faces the former airfield and has three large rectangular windows on each floor. A projecting concrete balcony separates the two floors and leads to doorways for first-floor access, although the original balcony railings are no longer present. The ground floor is wider than the upper floor at the southeast corner, with additional accommodation extending to the east. The southwest elevation has numerous smaller openings, while the northeast elevation is heavily overgrown with vegetation, obscuring similar openings. The rear northwest elevation is mostly blind, which is common for this type of design, but it does include an off-centre entrance doorway. As of November 2006, all window and door openings had been blocked to secure the building. The interior was not inspected due to the blocked openings.
