Description

The Parish Church of St Mary is a Grade I listed building located on Church Lane in Sidlesham. This medieval church, built in the 13th century, features a nave with aisles, north and south transepts, a north porch, and a west tower, which was added in the 16th century. The church is constructed from Mixon stone rubble and has a tiled roof. The porch was added in the 19th century. The church retains its quasi-cruciform shape and has not undergone significant restoration. Inside, there is a piscina from the 13th century and a font with a square back, a central stem, and four shafts decorated with rosettes. Additionally, there is a wall monument dedicated to Rebecca Bennett, who died in 1631.
