Description
The Marshall Monument is a chest tomb located approximately 40 meters northeast of the northeast corner of the Church of St Peter and St Paul, dating from around 1826. It is constructed of ashlar stone and designed in the Neo-Classical style. The tomb is raised on a stepped, battered plinth and features a chamfered table with a string course. It has a moulded base and cornice, with a pitched top that includes pediments at the ends, blocking courses on the sides, and anthemion acroteria. Inscriptions carved on the end and side panels commemorate George, son of George and Sarah Marshall, who died in 1826, George Marshall, who died in 1855, and other family members.
