Description

Chertsey Bridge was built by James Paine between 1780 and 1785. It is constructed of stone and features five main segmental arches, along with additional flood arches on the sides. The bridge has a plain parapet that includes capping and ornamental cast iron panels. These panels are positioned above cutwaters, which are pointed in shape and have rounded tops at the springing of the arches. The bridge is noted for its good proportions.
