Description
Polepit Cottage is a house built in 1863 in the Lovelace style. It features flint rubble with brick dressings, some of which are glazed, and colourwashed brick on the rear wing. The building has slate roofs and a T-shaped plan with the gable end facing the street. It is two storeys tall with the entrance located to the right.
The entrance front has a regular facade with three casement windows on the first floor, set in glazed red and yellow/grey brick surrounds that retain their original glazing bars. The surrounds are chamfered and decorated with dentil detailing, with a narrower window in the centre. On the ground floor, there are two cambered head casement windows with a dentilled hood moulding that extends as a string course over the ground floor. The central door also has a cambered head and is set in a chamfered two-step surround. The street front features a gable with a central chimney breast, adorned with two terracotta plaques and shields on the stack, and there is a wing at the rear.
