Description

Warren Farm House is a house dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with an 18th-century extension at the front, a 19th-century wing to the front right, and later 19th-century wings at both ends. The building has a timber-framed core that is clad in red brick at the rear, with whitewashed brick extensions across the front and part tile-hung extensions at the ends. The roofs are plain tiled over the older sections and at the ends, with a turret roof on the angle bay to the right of the center.

The original three-bayed framed house is now located at the rear center left and is two stories tall, featuring corbelled stacks at both ends. A taller canted bay has been added to the front right, which includes a dentilled stack to its left. Each face of the bay has one sash window on each floor, and there is a pentice to the left in the re-entrant angle with the old range, which has one cross window on the first floor.

To the left end, there is a hip-roofed cross wing with one three-light window on the first floor and one window below to the left. A pentice on the right side of the ground floor of the wing extends across the front of the old range, forming a porch with a six-panel door and an open verandah. There is an additional door to the left end in a set-back extension. The rectangular hip-roofed range to the right features three sash windows on the first floor and a pentice below, with a glazed door to the right.

At the rear, the building has cambered-head casement windows. Inside, the ceiling frame is exposed in the center room on the ground floor, showcasing a chamfered spine beam. The end room to the left has a deep chimney and a 19th-century stone fireplace surround. The house is included for its group value.
