Description

Hilda Cottage is a cottage dating back to the 17th century, with extensions added to both ends and the front during the 20th century. The left-hand section of the central part of the building has a timber frame with galleted ironstone infill. The rest of the building is underbuilt in whitewashed brick, and extended in brick over a sandstone plinth to the left. The roof is tiled and steps down to the left. The cottage is set at an angle to the road and below street level. It has two storeys, with a corbelled stack to the right of the centre. The first floor has an irregular arrangement of three casement windows. The ground floor has three casement windows to the centre and right, and one casement window in a single-storey brick extension closest to the street. A part-glazed 20th-century door is set in a gabled brick porch projecting to the right of the centre.
