Description
The main stable block at The Durdans, built around 1900, is a U-shaped structure. It is one storey high, with two-storey ends. The ground floor is made of red brick, while the first floor features timber framing. The attics are covered with rustic weatherboarding. The building has pitched tile roofs with overhanging eaves supported by brackets. It includes stable doors, with those in the end blocks topped by cornices held on brackets. A notable feature is the elaborate tower in the middle of the center block, which has a lower stage that is tile-hung, followed by a timber-framed section, then a lead-sheathed section, and finally an octagonal wooden section with louvred sides and scrolls at the corners, topped with a copper pagoda roof.
