Description
The dovecote, located approximately 20 meters southeast of Northcourt, dates from the late 17th century and has undergone minor alterations. It is constructed of roughly coursed limestone rubble with alternating angle quoins and features a stone slate roof topped with a pyramidal-capped lantern. The building has a square plan, and the front gable includes doorways on each floor, along with a cat hole on the first floor, indicating it likely had external steps in the past.
Inside, there are plain ceiling beams and joists, as well as wide floorboards. A trap door in the first floor leads to corn bins, and a ladder connects the first floor to the second floor, where wooden pigeon nesting boxes are situated beneath the lantern, supported by a central collar and tie beam truss.
