Description
This barn, located approximately 25 meters northeast of Kelmscott Manor, dates from the late 18th century and has undergone some alterations. It is constructed of uncoursed limestone rubble and features a stone slate roof. The barn has a wide full-height entrance with 20th-century double doors on the roadside, and a half-hipped cart entrance at the rear. There are square air vents in the gable ends and narrow rectangular slits at the apexes. Inside, the barn has a remodelled double-purlin roof divided into three bays, with raking struts and one curved strut connecting the tie beams to the principal rafters. The collars have short raking struts to the principal rafters at the level of the upper sets of purlins. This barn is included in the listing for its group value with the nearby manor.
