Description
Radcot Bridge, located in the town of Great Faringdon, is an early 14th and 15th century stone bridge featuring three arches. The outer arches are pointed and ribbed underneath, while the taller central round arch is likely a later rebuilding. The bridge has chamfered coping and a small three-sided projection over the center arch on the east side. It was partially destroyed in 1387 during the Battle of Radcot, and the central arch may have been repaired afterward. This bridge is noted as "the best medieval bridge in Berkshire" according to Pevsner. The north side of the bridge is situated in the West Oxfordshire District.
