Description
The memorial arch at St. Peter's College, built in 1921 by Sir T.G. Jackson, is a notable structure made of English bond grey brick with red brick dressings. It features a flat roof that is not visible. The arch stands two storeys high and has a three-window range front, flanked by tall semi-octagonal stair-turrets topped with domed copper-sheet roofs.
At the base, there is a moulded stone plinth, and the archway consists of two moulded gauged brick pointed archways with stone imposts. On either side of the central oriel window are stone-mullioned and transomed round-headed windows. The rear of the arch includes offset corner buttresses and stone-mullioned cross windows. Above the two archways, a central stone cross and the inscription "Invictis Pax" in laurel are set in a projecting bay.
Inside, there are moulded brick archways and doors leading to the towers. This arch is one of Jackson's last commissions.
