Description
Corner Cottage is a pair of cottages, likely dating from the 17th century. They feature timber framing with brick and plaster infill, as well as limestone rubble, topped with an interlocking-tile roof and brick stacks. The structure is a four-unit range, consisting of one storey plus attics. The front has four windows and is divided by a projecting lateral stack with large squared quoins. No. 10, on the left, has a plank door situated between 20th-century casement windows and two dormers. Corner Cottage, on the right, has a similar window arrangement, but the ground floor framing has been altered. The gable wall of Corner Cottage retains almost complete framing, while the left gable wall of No. 10 is made of limestone rubble, mostly hidden by a later rendered outshut, which also features a stack. There is a brick single-storey wing at the rear of Corner Cottage, likely from the 19th century. The interior has not been inspected. The cottages were probably originally one house.
