Description
West Hill House, located at No. 4 West Street, is a building from the late 17th century with later alterations. The facade is rendered and colourwashed, featuring string courses between the storeys and a cornice with a blocking course. The west side wall reveals visible timber framing. The roof is a later gambrel style, covered with slate and includes pedimented dormers. The house has two storeys and attics, with five sash windows that have glazing bars set in moulded architraves. The central doorway, dating from the late 17th century, is framed by stone pilasters adorned with draped decoration and topped with a pediment. The door itself is an eight-panel fielded design. West Hill House is part of a group with Nos 2 to 16 (even) and the pavement in front, as well as the buildings opposite Nos 6 and 8.
