Description
The Queen's College West Range, built between 1692 and 1694, is possibly designed by Dean Aldrich. It has been refaced in Clipsham stone. The master mason for the project was John Townesend, with Thomas Heughes as the carpenter and joiners Thomas Minn, senior and junior. Notable features include eagles on the pediment, keystones, and statues in niches on the west side, created by J Vanderstien. Originally, the ground floor had an open loggia, but this was enclosed by C R Cockerell in 1843. The interior was altered in 1756 when a plaster ceiling was added by Thomas Roberts.
