Description
Garden House, located approximately 50 meters east-north-east of Number 16 (St Giles' House), was built around 1740. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a lead-covered dome. The building has a rectangular plan and is supported by four composite columns, with the two center columns projecting. These columns hold up an entablature and a central pediment. The sides of the building are also open, while the back has panelled walling. Notably, the small dome on top is a one-to-one model of James Gibbs' first design for the Radcliffe Camera dome, likely created around 1737. The interior of the dome showcases fine ribs and coffering.
