Description
University College, located in Radcliffe Quadrangle, was built between 1716 and 1719 in a Gothic style, funded by the bequest of Dr. John Radcliffe. The masons involved in the construction were Bartholomew Peisley and William Townesend, with Francis Smith of Warwick also providing consultation as the surveyor. The chimneys and gables have been repaired using Doulting stone. Notably, the gate hall on the north side features a fan-vault, and there is a statue of Dr. Radcliffe positioned above the gateway in the north range.
