Description

The Oxford Union Society Debating Hall, built in 1878 by Sir Alfred Waterhouse, is a Grade II* listed building located on the south side of St Michael's Street in Oxford. Constructed from brick with terra-cotta dressings and enrichments, it features a deep coved eaves cornice. The exterior displays a strong character and is a notable example of Waterhouse's architectural style, which is influenced by Elizabethan design. The building includes 2-light mullion and transom windows. The Union buildings are part of a group, contributing to the overall architectural significance of the area.
