Description
Hill House is a house from the mid to late 19th century. The ground floor is built of Flemish bond brick, while the first floor features tile-hanging with scalloped tiles. The roof is covered with peg tiles and has brick stacks.
The house faces west onto Windmill Hill and has a double depth plan, consisting of two rooms wide with a central entrance. The principal rooms are located at the front and are heated by end stacks, with service rooms at the rear.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-bay front. There are two-storey projecting rectangular bays with hipped roofs on either side of the entrance. The roof is gable-ended and features a band of brick cogging at the first floor level. The central entrance has a 19th-century panelled front door, with glazed top panels, a rectangular overlight, and a horizontal porch hood with a moulded cornice. The windows are late 19th-century plate glass horned sashes throughout, with a 4-pane sash above the front door, tripartite sashes in the bays (4-pane in the center and 2-pane in the outer lights), and 2-pane sashes on the bay returns.
The interior has not been inspected.
