Description

The Cranbrook War Memorial is a war memorial made of Portland stone, dating from around 1920. It features a stone monument set on two steps, with a square plinth and a tapering shaft. At the top, there is a small hipped stone-tiled rooflet with bracketed eaves and a cross on the east side. The shaft is topped with a relief of St George and the Dragon, and below this, there are inscriptions that read: 'MCMXIV', 'MCMXVIII', 'MCMXXXIX', and 'MCMXXXXV'. The memorial is dedicated to the memory of the men of Cranbrook who fell in the Great War, with their names engraved on a memorial in the parish church.
