Description
The Camfield chest tomb, dated 1812, is located approximately 4 meters south of the nave of the Chapel of St John. This rectangular chest tomb is made of sandstone ashlar and features fluted corner pilasters, a flat lid with moulded edges, a moulded base, and a one-step plinth. The side panels have indented corners. The inscription begins with Gothic lettering, while the remainder is in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering. The south panel commemorates the death of Anne Camfield in 1812, and both the lid and the north panel record the deaths of other members of the Camfield family.
