Description
Beston Farmhouse is a 16th-century timber-framed farmhouse that was refronted and extended with an L-wing in the 18th century. The exterior is made of red brick with grey headers and features an old tiled roof that is half-hipped, topped with two brick chimney stacks. The building has two storeys and is L-shaped with three windows, which are casements with leaded lights. The entrance includes a cambered doorcase with a six flush panelled door.
Inside, the farmhouse retains a 16th-century spine beam with lambs' tongue stops, chamfered joists, and an open fireplace in the front range. There is an 18th-century well staircase featuring three turned balusters on each tread. The parlour includes an early 19th-century duck's nest grate and a china cupboard with serpentine shelves. The kitchen has an 18th-century bread oven, an open fireplace, and a well.
