Description
North Lodge is a gate lodge dating to 1862, designed by T.H.Wyatt. It is built of polychromatic sandstone and slate, with a T-shaped plan. The lodge is one storey and attic, featuring kneelered parapet gables and stacks to the rear centre. The windows are stone mullioned, set beneath polychrome relieving arches. A small re-entrant addition is located centrally, possibly an original entrance porch, although the current entry is on the rear elevation. Like the South Lodge on Goudhurst Road, it was part of the Capel Manor complex, commissioned for the Austen family.
