Description
The National Westminster Bank is a building that was originally a house, dating from around 1800. It features a rendered exterior with a slate roof, while the rear elevations are weather-boarded and tile hung. The structure has two storeys and a hipped roof with a parapet, and the end bays on both sides are recessed. There are chimney stacks located at the rear left and rear right. The front facade has a regular arrangement of windows, including three sash windows and two tripartite sashes on the first floor, and two tripartite sashes on the ground floor. Notably, the sash window at the right end on the first floor is a dummy, as this wing is simply a wall. The ground floor of this wing features carriage doors to balance the left-hand wing, which has a panelled door set within a cornice-parapetted porch. The central entrance consists of a panelled door with a semi-circular fanlight, framed by a Doric porch that includes a frieze and cornice. The building also has irregular hipped rear wings.
