Description

The churchyard of the Church of Saint John the Baptist contains six table tombs and one obelisk.

  1. The first table tomb, located by the south porch, has fluted corners and commemorates Mary Heolett, who died in 1813, and her son Robert Heolett, who died in 1812.
  2. The second table tomb, also by the south porch, features squared baluster corners and is dedicated to Robert Brattle, who died in 1795.
  3. The third table tomb, located by the south porch, is attributed to ? Sandell and dates from the early 18th century.
  4. The fourth table tomb, also by the south porch, is for William T?, dating from the 19th century.
  5. The fifth table tomb is situated at the east end of the church and dates from the early 18th century.
  6. The sixth table tomb, at the east end of the church, commemorates Henry Wood, who died in 1630.
  7. The obelisk is a truncated design supported by a square pedestal and is enclosed in iron railings. It commemorates Richard Crow, who died in 1807, and Frances Crow, who died in 1821, and is located by the east end of the church.
