Description

The Jeke headstone, dated 1695, is located adjacent to the south porch of the Church of St Mary in Hadlow. This headstone is made of sandstone and stands approximately 900mm high. It features a shaped head with a slightly recessed front. The inscription is crafted in neat Roman serif capitals, with lower case letters used in the accompanying poem. The headstone commemorates the death of Thomas Jeke in 1695 and includes a poetic epitaph.
