Description
The Simmons headstone, located approximately 17 metres south of the nave of the Church of St Mary, is a Grade II listed structure dated 1763 in memory of Robert Simmons. This headstone is made of sandstone and features an upright slab that stands about 750mm tall. The top of the slab is shaped and carved in low relief with a winged cherub head. The inscription is done in neat Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, including some italics, and commemorates the death of 6-year-old Robert Simmons.
