Description
The Yardley Memorial, dated 1867, is located approximately 2.5 metres west of the tower of the Church of St Mary in Hadlow. This memorial is dedicated to Clement Yardley and is made of white marble. It features a circular column with a moulded base, which stands on a wider square-section shaft that rests on a two-step base. Nearby, there is a vase that appears to have originally been on top of the column. The inscription is made of inlaid lead. On the east side, it commemorates the deaths of Clement Yardley in 1867, Helen Yardley in 1870, and Philip in 1913. The south side honors the colonial judge Sir William Yardley, who died in 1878, and his wife Amelia, who passed away in 1855.
