Description

This is a terrace of houses built around 1825-1830 on Fort Crescent. The buildings are constructed of brown brick, with most having three storeys and a basement, although numbers 12, 20-22, 24-28, 31 and 30 have four storeys and a basement. A parapet tops the buildings, and a cast iron balcony is present on the first floor. Each house features two sash windows, the majority of the original glazing bars having been lost, and a single bay window on the ground floor. The entrances are defined by round-headed doorcases, each with a semi-circular fanlight above the door; some doorcases have decorated keystones. Hoods are present over the doorways of numbers 12, 21, and 29. Numbers 1 to 8 and 12 to 36 form a group.
