Description
West Northdown Farmhouse and the adjoining Stable Cottage date back to 1652, as indicated by the date inscribed in brick on the west wall. The farmhouse is two storeys tall with an attic. The ground floor features squared knapped flints with brick dressings and quoins, while the first floor is made of flints arranged in a diaper pattern with red brick. There are two brick string courses above the ground floor, with alternating courses of brick and flints between them. The roof is tiled and includes two modern casement windows and two hipped dormers. The porch is constructed of flint and brick, featuring a shaped Dutch gable, red brick quoins, and a round-headed brick archway. The side of the farmhouse is similar to the front, made of flints with red brick quoins and string courses. The Stable Cottage is a single storey, built of flint and brick, with a half-hipped tiled roof that also has two hipped dormers and buttresses.
