Description

This is a late 18th to early 19th century building on West Street, consisting of two parallel sections. Both have tiled roofs with a mathematical tile pattern to the front. The main two-window-bay section is three storeys high. It has windows with flush boxes, and glazing bars, with iron guards to the second-floor windows only. The ground-floor windows have rendered lintels. A modern plate glass shop front occupies the ground floor. The east side is weather-boarded. A contemporary building, also of three storeys and four windows (three on the second floor), is located further north and faces Water Lane. This building retains intact glazing bars, has rubbed brick window lintels, and features a ground-floor window with shutters. A round-headed doorway, located in the second bay from the south, has stuccoed pilasters, a rusticated lintel, a projecting cornice, and a six-panel door with a fanlight above.
