Description
No. 25 on The Street is a hall house that has been converted into a residence. It dates from the 15th and 16th centuries, with a 20th-century extension added to the left over the driveway. The building is timber-framed with exposed beams and plaster infill, topped with a plain tiled roof. It features three framed bays and likely originated as a Wealden type hall, which was later altered in the 16th century to create a continuous jettied range. The left wing has been destroyed at an unknown time. The house has two storeys, with a continuous jetty at two levels; however, only the right end bay originally jetted out on a dragon post. The roof is hipped, with stacks on the left and a projecting end on the right. The first floor has four wooden casement windows, while the ground floor has an 8-light mullion window in the center, a 4-light mullioned window to the right, and a false door in a four-centre arched surround to the center right. Inside, there is a crown post roof supported by an arch-braced tie beam.
