Description
Homestall Farmhouse is a 16th-century hallhouse that has been ceiled. It features a timber frame with close-studding and plaster infill, topped with a plain tiled roof. The building has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys high, showcasing a continuous jetty on a dragon post, a moulded bressummer, and a hipped roof that steps down to the right end bay. There are stacks located to the right and at the rear left.
On the first floor, there are two four-light wood mullion windows with side-lights, along with a 20th-century oriel window that also has side-lights. The ground floor includes one four-light and one three-light wood mullioned window, while the right end bay is a later addition featuring one 20th-century wood mullion window on each floor. A solid oak door is located in the front, set within a centrally arched opening to the left.
Inside, the farmhouse has a crown post roof, and the hall contains an inserted stack and ceiling that is at a different level from the exterior bressummer. The corner room features 17th-century fielded panelling, moulded ceiling beams, a dragon beam, and a restored moulded brick fireplace.
