Description

A water mill, dating to circa 1790, with earlier origins mentioned in the Domesday Book. The mill was noted by the county historian Hasted in his History of Kent (written between 1778 and 1799). The building is three storeys high with attics, and is faced with weatherboarding. A Mansard slate roof is topped by stone eagle figures flanking the gable end. A projecting hoist is situated within the gable, which also contains an ogee-headed attic window. There are three sash windows with intact glazing bars. A round-headed doorway with a semi-circular fanlight is located in the north-east corner, while a painted, imitation doorway has been added to the north-west corner to create a visual balance.
