Description
Kirby Hall and Pyxos is a building dating from the 16th and 18th centuries, consisting of two parallel ranges. The north range, known as Kirby Hall, is a timber-framed structure that was sold by Sir Thomas Walsingham to Cuthbert Hacket, who became Lord Mayor of London in 1626. Around 1790, the building was refaced with buff mathematical tiles while maintaining the overhang of its first floor supported by four slender columns. It features a brick parapet and a wooden modillion cornice, along with a half-hipped slate roof. The façade includes three sash windows with intact glazing bars and a square porch with Doric columns and an entablature, positioned beneath the first-floor overhang. The south range, called Pyxos, is a later addition from the 18th century, constructed using similar materials but with some alterations.
