Description
The St Edith's Hall is a building located on the north side of High Street in Kemsing, constructed in 1911 by Godfrey Pinkerton. It is an ambitious structure made up of three sections, all featuring high-pitched tiled roofs. The building is primarily made of handmade red brick, which is enhanced by bands of narrower bricks and tumbling at the gable ends. It has tall brick chimneys styled in the 17th century manner. The windows are oak framed and mullioned, with the central section featuring carved windows that have Tudor heads above the lights. The main central building is taller than the other sections, consisting of one storey and five bays, topped with a small cupola on the ridge. Stepped buttresses add to its architectural interest, and there is a central ashlar feature with a figure of St Edith in a niche. To the left is a two-storey, three-bay residential section, while to the right is a subsidiary hall with three wide bays, where the outer bays project under gables. Additionally, there are two long covered ways that lead from the street to the entrance links.
