Description

Court Lodge, originally known as Horton Castle, is located on Horton Road in Horton Kirby. The main section at the south end of the building dates from the 18th century and features two storeys with rough plaster facing and a hipped tiled roof. It has three sash windows with intact glazing bars and a 19th-century porch. The central portion to the north is likely older, also with two storeys and plaster facing, but has a tiled roof and two casement windows. At the north end, there is a 19th-century addition that is one storey high, constructed of painted brick with a slate roof and sash windows that lack glazing bars. The house underwent significant alterations by Mr. George Smith, the surveyor, who also made changes to the church tower.
