Description
Vine Cottage and Rose Cottage is a 17th century or earlier timber-framed building that has been refaced. It is said to have once been the residence of the Bailiff of Eynsford Castle. Vine Cottage features two storeys, with the ground floor refaced in red brick and plaster above. It has a hipped tiled roof at the south-west end and three modern casement windows. There is also a later gabled weather porch. Rose Cottage, which is the north-eastern part of the building, is also two storeys and has a higher elevation, with a stucco finish and a hipped tiled roof. It includes a modillion eaves cornice, one sash window with intact glazing bars, and a simple doorcase with a flat wooden weather hood and a six-panelled door, where the top two panels have been cut away and glazed.
