Description

Dairy Farm House is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It has been refenestrated in its original openings, with a porch and a small extension added to the east in the late 19th century or early 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a steeply pitched hipped tiled roof with two end brick chimneystacks. It has a double-fronted plan, consisting of two storeys and attics, with five windows in the original part and one window in the single-storey addition.

The front elevation displays a moulded rubbed brick eaves course, with half-brick projecting full-height piers at either end. There are two tiled gabled dormers with rendered cheeks and 3 over 6 glazing bars with horns. The other floors feature 6 over 6 sash windows with horns, which have rubbed brick voussoirs and rendered and painted cills. The central entrance has a single panelled raised and fielded front door, flanked by a portico with square piers and a moulded cornice, rendered and painted. The east extension is a single-storey brick structure with a hipped tiled roof, featuring a 6 over 6 glazing bar sash with horns on the front and a double sash without glazing bars but with a horn on the east side. The rear extensions accommodate domestic services.

Inside, the ground floor rooms have window shutters, and there are three timber panelled rooms. Each room has a fireplace, with two ground floor fireplaces incorporating built-in cupboards. The interior also features early panelled doors, detailed joinery, and a narrow service staircase leading from the kitchen to the upper floor. A bell system with wires leading to the kitchen is still in place.
