Description
The Guildhall, located at No. 42 on The Bayle in Folkestone, is a mid-19th century building. It is constructed of white brick, with the ground floor colorwashed. The roof is tiled and features a modillion cornice. The building has long and short quoins.
The front elevation includes five sash windows set in moulded architraves with verticals only. There is a round-headed blank window at the corner. The elevation facing the Parade has three sash windows, also set in moulded architraves with verticals only. The ground floor features round-headed windows arranged in arcading, with a keystone above. A round-headed doorcase is located at the corner, topped by a frieze with a vitruvian scroll design.
The Guildhall is part of a group with Nos. 26 to 40 (even), The Battery, and the statue in the grounds of The Battery.
