Description
The Town Hall, dated 1803, is a two-storey building made of yellow brick, located on the west side of High Street. It features a rounded end that transitions into St George's Place. The High Street facade has a pediment, a modillion cornice, and a parapet at the roof. There are three windows on this elevation, with the central window bay projecting and designed as a Venetian window, flanked by round-headed windows. To the right, there is a lower section that serves as the Mayor's Parlour, which includes a simple round-headed doorcase with a six-panelled door and a Tuscan colonnade. A drinking fountain, installed in 1875 by Earl Grenville, Warden of the Cinque Ports at that time, is located in the corner. The side elevation is lower, featuring a slate roof and three sashes with intact glazing bars on the first floor, along with a round-headed doorcase. The Town Hall is part of a group with Nos 115 to 127 (odd).
