Description

No. 6 Pound Lane, also known as Sudbury Tower, is part of the city fortifications and dates back to the 14th century, although it has been restored. This structure is a squat square tower with three storeys, constructed from flints and featuring stone quoins and a castellated parapet. It has three 15th-century windows, each containing two blunt cirquefoil-headed lights with hood moulding above. To the southwest, there is a section of the city wall, approximately 12 feet high, which is capped with tiles and includes a recast entrance. The Wool Stores located to the southwest of No. 6 and Nos. 6 to 12, which are consecutive, form a group with this building.
