Description

Mead Manor is a timber-framed building that dates from before 1400. Originally, it was an open hall with one bay and a two-storey bay at each end. In the late 16th century, the hall was ceiled over, and in the 18th century, the exterior was altered with the addition of an extra bay. The building has two storeys, with the ground floor rebuilt in red brick. The first floor features curved braces with plaster infilling. It has a steeply-pitched hipped tiled roof with a 17th-century chimneystack and three casement windows. A later gabled porch has also been added. Inside, the original hall partition remains intact at the north end, and there is some stone in the chimney that originates from a 13th-century ecclesiastical building.
