Description

Summer Hill is an early 15th century timber-framed hall house located on Shalloak Road in Broadoak. Originally designed as an open hall with two bays and a parlour cross-wing, it was refaced in brick during the 18th century. The building stands two storeys high and features a tiled roof with a central chimneystack from the 17th century. There are three casement windows and a simple doorcase. The service end of the original hall-house is now missing. Inside, the structure includes a central crown-post of cruciform cross-section type, smoke-blackened rafters, and a roof in the parlour cross-wing that is of rafter and collar type.
