Description

The retaining walls to Black Prince's Well are possibly from the 18th or 19th century. The well is constructed of brick and features a stone surround, which includes some medieval masonry. It has an arch made of stone rubble with a keystone that displays the Prince of Wales feathers and the motto "Ich Dien." According to tradition, the Black Prince, who died in 1376, requested water from this healing spring. The structure is included in the listing for its historical associations.
