Description

Ally Cottage is a building of group value, likely dating to the late 18th century, with an earlier section from 1730, situated on the south side of The Street in Kingston. The left section is two storeys high and constructed of blue and red brick, with a brick eaves cornice and a tile roof, topped with stacks at the gable ends. It has two windows on each floor; the ground floor windows have segmental heads, and are hung sashes with glazing bars. The upper floor windows are casements. A plain wooden door is set within a doorway with a segmental head. The section to the right is dated 1730, indicated by the initials ā€œI Pā€ above the doorway. This portion is single-storey with attics, built of red brick with a Welsh slate roof and two dormers at the eaves. It features a brick cornice above the two ground floor windows, which have segmental heads, wide hung sashes with glazing bars, and a segmental head over the doorway. A brick plinth runs along the base, and a datestone is positioned above the door. Stacks are present at both gable ends.
