Description
Shirley and Syringa are two attached buildings located on the south side of The Street in Barham. Shirley is a mid-19th century structure that is one and a half storeys tall, built of brick with a brick eaves cornice. It has a tiled roof featuring two dormers, and two windows with segmental arches, hung sashes, and glazing bars. The building also has a rendered plinth and a plain wood doorcase. Syringa, dating from the early 19th century, is two storeys high and constructed of red brick with knapped flint on the side. It has a hipped tiled roof and a modillion eaves cornice. Syringa features two windows on each floor with rendered flat arches, hung sashes, and glazing bars. There is a projecting bay with three lights on the first floor, and the doorway is framed by a moulded architrave surround with a projecting cornice above. There are also attached outbuildings to the left of the main structures.
