Description
Ford Manor Farmhouse is a building that includes part of the late medieval gatehouse of the Palace of the Archbishops of Canterbury, most of which was demolished in 1658. The farmhouse features a wing dating from the 15th century but was refronted in red brick in the 18th century. It has two storeys and a hipped tiled roof, with three casement windows and a modern porch. The east front displays exposed timber-framing in one area and has a small two-storeyed gable projection in the center. On the south wall, there is an 18th-century doorcase with pilasters, a pediment, and a door with six fielded panels. At the back, there is an 18th-century L-wing on the ground floor only, and beyond this, a 17th-century red brick wall that contains an archway with a pointed head. Inside, the farmhouse features exposed beams, an inglenook fireplace, and a crown post roof dating from around 1480.
