Description
The Oast Kiln range at Harmansole Farm, built in 1871 and extended in 1889, is located in Lower Hardres, Kent. This structure features red brick construction and a plain tile roof. It includes square kilns, with a double kiln at the northeast end that has had its cowls removed.
The north elevation showcases a two-storey hop storage range from 1871, which consists of roughly five bays. Starting from the east end, there is a window above and below, a pivot window to the loft, another window below, a plaque dated 1871, a loft door with a hoist and gable, and a fifth window. The north elevation of the 1889 hop storage extension is partly faced with vitrified bricks and includes a wide segmentally headed ground floor doorway with a loft door above it, along with a plaque inscribed "JBW 1889." There are also windows on both storeys. Inside, the building retains hop kiln furnaces and wooden slatted kiln floors.
